Dual nutrient limited growth, the restriction of the amount of biomass by two nutrients at the same time, is a relatively unknown ability of bacteria and consequently still not mentioned in textbooks to date. Nevertheless, this special growth condition can be used to produce poly (3-hydroxyalkanoate) (PHA) in continuous cultures with adjustable co-polymer composition.
