A crucial part of any equilibrium modelling calculation is the selection of equilibrium constants that quantify the strength of metal-ligand interactions. Finding suitable equilibrium constants that lead to reliable results can be problematic. At present, many researchers, especially those who lack a strong background in chemical thermodynamics or are occasional users, tend to perform calculations using available software packages as black boxes. However, even these users may need to "fill in" the software's equilibrium constant databases when, for example, the system of interest is missing. Numerous compilations of equilibrium constant values have been published over the years, each with its own limitations, coverage and availability. Except in a few fields (e.g. nuclear disposal industry and research), the main problem today is the lack of persistence and thus accessibility of existing compilations. The amount of ongoing work and effort required just to maintain and distribute functional versions of computer databases is often underestimated. In the past, this task was mainly carried out by agencies such as CODATA, NIST or IUPAC, but lack of funding, retirement of key scientists and changing scientific interests, as well as obsolescence of software and storage systems, have led to a halt in the development and maintenance of many databases, and access to some existing equilibrium data compilations has become problematic. In general, navigating this field is not easy, especially for 'newcomers'. For this reason, an article entitled "Where to find equilibrium constants?" was published in 2019 [1], presenting most of the databases, their scope and availability. The guide was intentionally published in a 'generalist' journal and not in a journal specialised in the field of equilibrium constants determination in order to favour its dissemination in end-user communities.
