High-resolution two-phase flow data in rod bundle geometries are important for the development and validation of high-fidelity models for computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and subchannel codes. The Michigan Adiabatic Rod Bundle Flow Experiment (MARBLE) has been specifically designed and instrumented to establish a high-resolution void fraction database of air-water two-phase flows in reactor fuel assembly geometries, consisting of a scaled 8x8 lattice mock-bundle. Computed tomographic measurements were then performed with the High-Resolution Gamma-ray Tomography System (HRGTS) built at the University of Michigan. The detector system has a spatial resolution less than 1.0 mm using 240 LYSO scintillators. A wire-mesh sensor (WMS) was also deployed as an alternative local measurement method. It is composed of 48x48 grid points and sophisticatedly designed to penetrate across the rod bundle, having 1,536 effective conductance cells. In the present study, the time-average void fraction measurement between the HRGTS and WMS has been compared in air-water flow conditions using the MARBLE facility. The void fraction was measured under three different flow regimes, such as bubbly flow, cap-bubbly flow, and cap-turbulent flow. The local void fraction at the center of each subchannel resulted a good agreement with the two measurement techniques, whereas the local region in the proximity of the rod wall boundary had a relatively large uncertainty.
