High temperature polymer electrolyte fuel cells (HT-PEFC) exhibit extensive phosphoric acid electrolyte migration from cathode to anode under high current operation. In this work synchrotron based operando X-ray tomographic microscopy (XTM) was used to study the influence of current density, membrane material (DMAc film casted PBI and PPA-process membranes) and phosphoric acid loading on the extent of electrolyte migration.
