This final report includes the findings from the WSL project funded by the Swiss Agency for the Environment, Forests and Landscape (SAEFL/BUWAL) (contract Nr. WE03/2000 I 07) for the time period from 1 April 2000 until 30 April 2002. The content is based on the previously published annual reports for the SAEFL and on two publications recently submitted to the peer reviewed journal Environmental Pollution.
The report is divided into three main chapters. Two chapters are describing studies investigating the effects of ozone on native plant species grown (i) at the Lattecaldo open-top chamber (OTC) research facility and (ii) under natural forest conditions on Level II long-term forest monitoring plots. The third main chapter (iii) describes the results from an exercise conducted during the 2^nd UN/ECE ICP-Forest Intercalibration Course, held in Switzerland and Italy in August 2001.
Furthermore, the report gives an overview of activities during the two-year project period such as publications and extension. The future perspectives are based on the submitted WSL project proposal for the SAEFL from 28 March 2002. [...]
