This collection of invited and voluntary papers reflects the activities of Subject Group S6.03-00 "Information Systems and Terminology" at the XX World congress of the International Union of Forestry Research Organisations (IUFRO), held in August 1995 in Tampere, Finland. The authors presented reports about regional developments, descriptions of information services, and overviews of advances in the use of information technology with respect to forest sciences. Forestry terminology issues were addressed as well. Three contributions in the second part of the volume were presented during the Interdivisional Session on "Data requirements for decision making", organized by S6.03-00. Similar texts are also published in the general Congress Report of IUFRO'95. Additional documents concerning administrative matters of IUFRO S6.03-00 are included.
