This paper summarizes information on conservation of forest gene resources in Eastern Europe except Russia. Partially, it is based on national inventories of the stands approved for seed procurement, gene reserves, seed orchards and further gene conservation units and partially on personal information from the respective countries. Wherever possible the information is summarized also for three natural subregions of Eastern Europe - the Balkan Peninsula, the Carpathians and the Baltic States. Special attention is paid to international cooperation and current projects on gene conservation.
