Several factors relevant to photoperiodic time measurement in Chrysoperla camea (Stephens) were investigated. The illumination threshold to separate day and night is between 5 and 10 lux. Long wavelength (green-) receptors are involved in diapause induction. Weather conditions and the light intensities at the diurnal resting places of the lacewings have a strong influence on the perceived daylength. For 1984, the factors considered relevant can explain the situation observed in nature.
