The project "Data Center for Nature and Landscape" of the Swiss Federal Research Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape is designed to provide a comprehensive storage and retrieval system for environmental data in a process oriented database model. This model also reflects the lineage or history of data sets. One of the major goals is the publication of heterogeneous data such as spatial-, tabular-, document-, image- and metadata over the internet with a single application. This paper describes how we developed an application within the framework of ArcIMS in combination with JSP and JavaBeans to reach these goals.
