In February 2001, some specimens of Galanthus elwesii subsp. elwesii were noticed in the forest "Eiteberg", community of Mulligen, near Brugg. The species has been imported from Balkany or Turkey as a garden plant. The individuals found in the forest are most likely garden fugitives. At the Eiteberg, Galanthus elwesii prefers cold nord-facing slopes on limestone and grows always together with Galanthus nivalis.
