A new species of Cistella, found on fallen leaves of maple, oak and sweet chestnut is described from Switzerland, Germany, France and Estonia. The species is characterized by its asci having hemiamyloid (Lugol red) apical rings and consistently lacking croziers. The other characters like subfusoid, small ascospores, hairs with a distinctly clavate warted upper cell and cylindrical paraphyses not exceeding the asci, are typical of the genus.
