Greenland has more than 400,000 km2 of unglaciated land, about ten times the size of Switzerland. But while Switzerland has around 3,000 vascular plant species (i.e. excluding mosses and algae), Greenland has just over 500. This is still a relatively high number for an Arctic country; the Arctic is relatively species-poor.
