In a recent survey of epiphytic lichens of the community of Zürich we found 141 lichen species. 117 species were found in forests, 68 species in open, unbuilt and 59 species in built-up areas. Seven species are threatened at the national level. Five species of macroliches reported from Zürich during the 19th century and listed in the Swiss national Data centre Swisslichens could not be confirmed during our study.
